This work aims to analyze the trajectory of singer Caetano Veloso and his relations with the concept of foreigner. To this end, an analysis was carried out of the singer's statements from his autobibliographic book Verdade Tropical and the songs from his album Transa in light of the theories of Julia Kristeva (1994), Jacques Lacan (1966, 1977) and Pierre Bourdieu (2008), so we could understand how Caetano uses the concept of foreignness as a personal philosophy in his career, and how this attitude enshrines his work of valuing the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture through his songs.
